SPLICE

Adrien Brody, from King Kong, The Darjeeling Limited and The Brothers Bloom, stars in this film as a scientist. Amazingly taking the role as Clive Nicoli, he knew his experiment, what he was getting into and what mistake he could fall in love with, making it hard for him to believe the dangers if he and his girlfriend let it loose out in the world for everyone to see.

It had the structure of the popular 1997 horror flick, "The Relic" and "Species" film at the same time.…

Getting You To Get Him To The Greek

So the beginning was a little contemplating, trying to understand why there were all these news channels and how funny they became...

Before that was a music video called, "African Child." A stereotypical-like racist point of view in the film some say that was the worst.

Does a music video tank and then raise up to the top later, when this music artist, played by Russell Brand, isn't really doing well on sobering up? He learns from Jonah Hill's…

My New Job as an Associate Producer. Next Stop: Hollywood

Greetings fellow film buffs. I can’t count the number of films I’ve watched over the years in which I’ve thought to myself, “hey that was a great film, but the ending just killed it”. (Yeah, I’m talking to you, M Night Shyamalan.) I’ve started this blog because I’ve just discovered a remedy to this problem. A friend of mine who has had her movies screened at prestigious film festivals such as Sundance and Cannes led me to www.imadeamovie.com. I am so…

Film: A Study Or Observation To Be Explained With These 10 To 20 New Generations Popping Up?

We all hear the terminology "over-casting" from film critics all the time where they would always think that it hurts the film industry. It is not even a disaster as well. All actors go through some type of career path in which they think suits them the best or if the producers would think they would allow a certain type of actor being picked out mostly.
The boom to CGI, originals, acting, directing, writing and digital cinematography has made an impression and a landmark ever since the…

On Valentine’s Day, You Do Not Have To See The Film

The A-List actors, such as Queen Latifah, Jennifer Gardner, Jessica Alba, Jessica Biel, Cathy Bates, Bradley Cooper, Jamie Foxx, Topher Grace, Anne Hathaway, Patrick Dempsey and Eric Dane were more involved in the film “Valentine’s Day,” than any other actor. They set the film straight from beginning to end. The worst director, Gary Marshall, to film a romantic comedy really failed in direction since it never led anywhere. Valentine’s Day really tipped down. It sailed off with a great…

There's No Need To Have A Crazy Heart

Jeff Bridges new film, "Crazy Heart" had the amazing performance of it's livelihood. Same with Maggie Gyllenhaal's next best effort after 2008's "The Dark Knight." The concept was great but had too many smoking scenes that overlapped more of the drinking scenes.

Based on a novel about a country music singer, Bad Blake was fully understood where the end had to tie in the knot. The story relied on and surrounded the character development of Bad Blake. There was nothing wrong with the acting… Continue

Get Your Tape Measure Out And Find Where ‘Extraordinary’ Reads: Extraordinary Measures Should Be Around There Somewhere

After both blockbuster films that came out in 2008, “Journey to the Center of the Earth 3-D,” and “The Mummy: Tomb of the Dragon Emperor,” Brendan Frasier steps into the spotlight of a true story with ‘Indiana Jones’s Harrison Ford. Both in their battle and struggle to save John Crawley’s son and daughter that has Pompe, “Extraordinary Measures” does have hope in means of scientific breakthroughs. It is amazing what scientists do today that find the means to save a life with a type of enzyme.… Continue

How Many Are There In An Army Of Legion’s?

Paul Bettany and Dennis Quaid star in this middle-of-no-where film called, “Legion.” This amazingly, riveting film that has it’s humors and wits about it at the right time. Looking at Dennis Quaid’s acting career throughout the years, has made outstanding progress. This film can be looked at mainly by his fault. He curses up a storm at unexpected moments and tries to talk like a hot shot. As an old enough father, that he portrays in “Legion,” really impresses the thought of how he pulled it… Continue

Reading, Reviewing And Returning The Book Of Eli

Denzel Washington portrayed in many great films before ever starring in a film that deals with the aftermath of this world destroyed. That would be The Book of Eli. It made an outstanding accomplishment from the beginning page to the end. Not knowing Denzel Washington's character an hour and a half into the film, became as an amazing approach than any other films. The environment and the setting of the Book Of Eli reminds us in a particular way of Will Smith's 2007 film "I Am Legend." Gary… Continue

Lovely? Let's tear The Lovely Bones apart by it's wishbone

Cliche's can save or destroy a film, depending on how they use it. Peter Jackson, the world renowned director of The Lord of the Rings films, enters through the door of a little girls room in The Lovely Bones. The Walls of Susie Salmon's room are described in the film as her heavenly place. Susie Salmon, played by Saoirse Ronan, had her head and voice in there a lot more. The character development of Susie Salmon was at it's best where the voice over narrative, at certain parts, were important… Continue

Matt Newman's post on "Whip It"

ATTENTION!.....

ATTENTION!.....

This is not your typical cliched sport movie. Let me explain.

Ellen Page, of "Juno," stars in this film directed and written by Drew Barrymore. Drew Barrymore also stars in this film.

"Whip It" can get your head spinning around and around in the roller derby. With amazing performances and direction you get the big picture. It goes round and round. The girls are skinny and beautiful but the fights on skates are something… Continue

Matt Newman's review on "Zombieland"

Who knows about "Shaun of the Dead," the british comedy with Simon Pegg and zombies? Well I was told from a friend of mine that he relates this film to it in some sort of significant way.

I believe that "Zombieland" has what it takes just to American-ize that film.

In this painstakingly comedy, I couldn't catch my breath. Non-stop from beginning to end. It was terrific...

Since I was taught to go into detail about writing critiques of films from Peter Grossi, my… Continue

Matt Newman's review on "Surrogates"

This film is based on the novel that I never knew anything about.

"Surrogates" with Bruce Willis, keeps us in mind of two familiar films. The storyline reminds us of "The Terminator" and "Eraser." I know that when you see it in the beginning, Bruce's character is young. After a while he gets tired of having a surrogate. It gets destroyed by, on what they call in the story, dreds.

As an FBI agent, he gets out there finding out what kind of weapon would mutilate the person… Continue

Matthew Newman's review on Pandorum

If any of you have seen the "Alien" films, you probably know that this is copying off of that. In a way, it captures the environment to end up dark and more Gothic like. It is a horror story and isn't your typical Dennis Quaid hype.

It works like the way the creators made the Resident Evil movies but works in a different way.

"Pandorum" has its scares and Dennis Quaid doesn't really sound too annoying as others have critiqued him to be in "G.I. Joe: Rise of the Cobra." In… Continue

Will The Film Industry Be Saved?

For a long time, Hollywood, California has been making films ever since the 1920’s. Motion picture arts has captured the lives of millions around the globe. In many cases, they have thrived on theory and criticism. High budget distributors and production companies have compiled adaptations of novels, novellas, comics, short stories and even already made suitable animations into reality. Tim Burton already has the corner marketed on that issue a dozen times in the films he has done. Taking from… Continue

FILM REVIEW: "Transformers 2"

FILM REVIEW: "TRANSFORMERS 2: Rise of the Fallen"

By Rachel Galvin

Michael Bay not only has managed to make an over-100-million-dollar-movie in the opening weekend, but he has managed to make a film that is worth the price of the ticket.

Yes, the metal against metal clashing of mega-sized robots is nothing but a colorful blur, leaving the audience not sure what robot is which, especially in the beginning, and the… Continue
