This film is based on the novel that I never knew anything about.
"Surrogates" with Bruce Willis, keeps us in mind of two familiar films. The storyline reminds us of "The Terminator" and "Eraser." I know that when you see it in the beginning, Bruce's character is young. After a while he gets tired of having a surrogate. It gets destroyed by, on what they call in the story, dreds.
As an FBI agent, he gets out there finding out what kind of weapon would mutilate the person and their surrogate at the same time. Is it safe to be plugged in all the time to your robot 24/7?
All I have to tell you about that is: Go see it.
I definitely recommend the film to others who like the twists from the middle to the end. The way it was acted, was phenomenal. It has a little character development building up maybe 20% throughout where the direction had no entrails. The direction was pulling me in so many different ways that I couldn't find out who was behind all of it.
Not so much of your science fiction type, it is present day with robots. Now the major question is, "Are we really capable to sits on our asses all day, being plugged in to our own robots, having them do all of our dirty work?............ I really don't think so.
So it looked a little bit cheesy but built up on the suspense and the story a lot more. How "Surrogates" was written, was pretty much the 21st century of "Eraser" and "The Matrix" mixed with the technology we have today.
"Surrogates" pulled its weight and made it clear with a moral value in the movie. it was not mentioned but I grasped on it toward the very end... "You can't always depend on a computer for everything, or on an advanced computer robot for that matter to do everything for you. Do things in person. It's better that way."
This film lived up to its potential and I definitely give it two thumbs up. If I had to rate it, I would give it 3 stars. It is definitely worth seeing and I would recommend it.
