Irish Theatre promotes their heritage
This weekend; “”Country Boy”
As South Florida’s only non-profit Irish Community Theatre Group, the Irish Theatre of Florida has been a vital part of traditions rich in Irish Culture for the past 18 years. Their mission is to promote Irish Heritage through the Arts, to produce Irish Drama in South Florida and provide a forum for the Irish Diaspora, Irish American artists and educators by connecting people of Irish heritage to the theatre.
This weekend, you can see the play “The Country Boy,” by John Murphy, an intimate portrait unveiling the cost of country life versus city living, particularly New York. It examines the heartbreaking dilemma of emigration in rural Ireland in the 1950’s. Although there is humor, there also isbitterness and regret.
The Irish Theatre of Florida’s entire staff is comprised of dedicated volunteers who provide their time bringing Irish culture to South Florida. They are seeking donations.
