Hosting guru, manager and author Marki Costello knows what it takes to be a TV host. Considered “Hollywood royalty,” this go-getter is the granddaughter of comedian Lou Costello knows how to hold her own in front of a camera.
This host with the most suggests that those wanting to be in this biz brand themselves and let their personalities shine. The important part is connecting to the audience and telling them the truth. Of course feeling comfortable in front of a camera or a teleprompter is also a good skill. She also adds that jumping to the Los Angeles territory does not guarantee a hot spot on the A-list. Instead, this industry takes hard work, something she has done her whole life. She points out that she has spent 20 years building her brand and now she teaches others to do the same.
She co-hosted with Danny Bonaducie’s “I Know My Child’s a Star,” and also has appeared on “Next Action Star” on E! Entertainment’s “Fight for Fame” and as a branding consultant on VH1’s “Confessions of a Teen Idol.”
Celebs Kelly Osbourne, Cee Lo Green and Hank Baskett have come to Marki for expert coaching. And well they should, given that she is the owner and president of Creative Management Entertainment Group in Los Angeles and manages TV heavy-hitters like Jason Kennedy of E! News, 2012 Emmy Award winner, Todd Newton, and Debbie Matenopoulos from “The View” and “The Insider.”
This year, she wrote a book about show hosting called “Become A Host,” which is available on Amazon.com, and is currently shooting a show for a major network. She held a Hosting Boot Camp on August 10th in Ft. Lauderdale.
She also has been a Casting Director for major networks like Disney, Warner Bros., FOX and TBS. She casts 30 percent or more of the hosting gigs on TV, she adds.
