 On Sept. 22, a crowd of eager cinephiles gathered at the Ft. Lauderdale Hilton (on A1A) to enjoy delicious samplings and a free libation, to mingle and to see FLIFF's poster unveiled for the first time. They also learned more about the 26th annual Fort Lauderdale Film Festival, which runs Oct. 21- Nov. 11. This year, the fest will be spread out with screenings not only at Cinema Paradiso, but also Sunrise Civic Center and also at the Pompano Muvico.  As usual, there will be feature films, short films, narratives and documentaries, local and international selections. And don't forget the parties ... and the celebrities. SCROLL DOWN for more details on just some of the celebrity encounters you can expect. The official opening film is "The Artist," directed by Michel Hazanavicius and starring Penelope Ann Miller, who will be receiving a Career Achievement Award.
