FEATURED PRODUCER: JOEL SILVER

From producing films like "Die Hard" films, "Weird Science," "Lethal Weapon" films, "Matrix" films, "Speed Racer" and, more recently, Guy Ritchie's gem "Rock n Rolla," Joel Silver has proven himself to be a big player in the film world.
Some of his exciting upcoming projects include "Wonder Woman" (minus Joss Whedon) in to be released supposedly in 2009 and "Sherlock Holmes," slated to be released in 2010, among others.
For Holmes, he plans on reuniting with Ritchie as director. This adaptation will not be based more on the Lionel Wigram's comics than Sir Arthur Conana Doyle books. And the clincher? Holmes will be played by Robert Downey, Jr!
What is most exciting about Silver is that he seemingly reinvents his process from film to film. After reinventing the action film in the '80s, he went on to do films with mind-blowing and altering effects like "Matrix" and "Speed Racer." Now that he has combined with the grittiness of a Guy Ritchie (aka Mr. Madonna) who knows what's possible. Overall, he gets the direction the industry is going. Instead of filming out in the middle of the desert somewhere, he knows that actors will be much more comfortable in front of a green screen, which is what he aptly utilized for his 60-day filming of "Speed Racer."
With a green screen, he can transform his digital adventure to be anywhere so ... there is no telling where Sherlock Holmes may venture.
Keep an ear open to more Silver magic coming to the big screen soon.
