Marco Ramirez’s Macon City: A Comic Book Play
gets its DEBUT at the Naked Stage!

Award-winning company presents visionary play by popular local playwright.

Miami, FL, November 03, 2009 – The Naked Stage is proud to begin its 2009-2010 season with Macon City: A Comic Book Play by Marco Ramirez.

Following the enormous success of the third annual 24-Hour Theatre Project, The Naked Stage is delighted to present this imaginative, new play from the 2 time Heideman award winning author of Broadsword and Mr. Beast.

Set in a fictitious American Metropolis, Macon City chronicles the lives of several local denizens as they struggling to survive in a decaying city, long-since abandoned by the Defenders, a super-powered team of crime-fighters. Subtitled A Comic Book Play, Macon City is perfectly suited for the intimate setting of the Pelican Theatre; a 43 seat proscenium theatre located on the campus of Barry University that The Naked Stage is proud to call home. You won't want to miss as the Naked Stage takes on the unique challenge of bringing a graphic novel to life. With Ramirez' distinctive, urban-inspired poetry and Naked Stage's critically lauded design team, Macon City promises to be one of the most exciting productions of the season.

Macon City: A Comic Book Play stars Alyn Darnay, Jasmine Fluker, Scott Genn, David Hempill, & Hugh Murphy, and is directed by John Manzelli.

Sets are designed by Executive Artistic Producer Antonio Amadeo, sound is by Matt Corey, lights are by John Manzelli & costumes are by Leslye Menshouse.

The Naked Stage’s production of Macon City: A Comic Book Play runs November 13th –29th, 2009 (Thursday – Saturday @ 8pm, Sunday @ 2pm & 7pm. No performance on Thanksgiving, November 26).

The Naked Stage performs at the Pelican Theatre located on the campus of Barry University, 11300 NE 2nd Avenue in Miami Shores. Single seats are $25; Senior discount tickets are $18 (60+); Student discount tickets are $12 (must provide ID at door).

Tell us about your experience:
In the summer of 1993 Alyn formed Chaos Films – Miami, a full service film and video production company specializing in commercial, music, feature, and corporate film production. In 2006, Chaos Films added a service office in Chicago, Illinois to provide film production to Midwest companies. Chaos Films continues to produce award winning film, video, and HD productions and Alyn continues to serves as its driving force.

In the last few years alone Alyn’s work has been recognized as the best of the best countless times by his peers and his clients. He has earned fifteen outstanding awards of excellence, including Two Vision Awards for Web Design in 2000, a National Medical Society Award for writing in 2001, a viewers best of the Web award for his film “The Miami Chronicles” in 2002, and in the past three years, four Telly Awards, two Axiem Awards, two Aurora Awards, and a Videography Award for writing and directing.

Alyn’s new book, “The Script…A Breakthrough Guide to Scriptwriting” has just been released nationwide and is currently being translated into Spanish. He has also written and sold two original film scripts, has been published in Newspapers and National Magazines, and two of his short films have won awards at the Ft. Lauderdale Film Festival. He guest lectures at Film Festivals, Colleges and Universities, holds script writing seminars for professionals several times a year, is preparing an intensive professional course in Directing, and periodically teaches filmmaking courses for the Florida Film Institute.

Most recently Alyn has worked on the feature “Spin” for Global Film Partners, finished work on the newest “Ali Vegas” Video, he has wrapped up directing duties on the romantic drama “Secrets To Savor” and his road picture “The Art of Roadkill” just won the 4 top awards (Best Director, Screenplay, Editing, and Musical Score) in the 2008 Miami – 48 Hour Film Project.

He also writes a popular monthly column for ‘The Northern Star’ newspapers and film reviews for Aced Magazine, AnestaWeb and Your Entertainment Ticket.
